| Playing Forza Horizon 6 on PS4: What You Need to Know |

If you’re a PlayStation 4 player hoping to jump into Forza Horizon 6, there’s some important news: the game will not be available on PS4. The developers have made it clear that this is a current-generation exclusive, designed to run only on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
When and Where You Can Play
PlayStation 5: Forza Horizon 6 is confirmed for a post-launch release on PS5 later in 2026. You can already add it to your wishlist on the PlayStation Store.
Initial Launch: The game launches May 19, 2026, for Xbox Series X/S and PC (Steam and Microsoft Store).
Early Access: Premium Edition owners can start playing a few days early, on May 15, 2026, on Xbox and PC.
Why PS4 Can’t Run It
Forza Horizon 6 pushes the series to its limits. The map is the largest and most detailed in the franchise, set in a stylized version of Japan. Tokyo alone is five times bigger than the main city in Forza Horizon 5.
The game runs on the new ForzaTech engine, which is optimized for ninth-generation hardware. Some of the features that demand more power include:
Advanced Refraction Shaders for realistic headlights and taillights.
540-degree steering animations and detailed tire wear.
Ray-traced global illumination and reflections (on PC).
 These features are beyond the technical capacity of the PS4 and older consoles
, which is why the port isn’t possible.

Deluxe Edition: Adds the Car Pass (30 cars released weekly) and a Welcome Pack.
