The Cold Snap update turns every outdoor run into a timer you can't ignore, and you'll feel it fast: shivers, hand-rubbing, that "just one more crate" temptation. I've been chaining raids all week, and frostbite stacks in a way that punishes hesitation. so they can focus on staying alive instead of re-farming the basics after a bad wipe.
Play For Heat, Not Hero Moments
Most deaths I've watched weren't from bad aim. They were from ego. People take a fight in the open, win it, then stand there looting while the snow keeps ticking. Don't do that. Drag the fight inside, even if it means giving up a clean angle. Doors, stairwells, tight rooms—those spots stop the frost buildup and force awkward pushes. If you're caught outside, break line of sight and move like you mean it. Sprint, slide, whatever. The moment your character starts doing the "I'm cold" animations, treat it like an alarm, not a suggestion.
Flickering Flames: The Real Shopping List
The event itself is basically a donation run at Speranza, and it's not just one item. You need a whole pile. The headline number is 260 Candleberries if you want to clear all five stages, which sounds miserable until you notice the track hands out roughly 180 just from XP. That means your actual farming target is way smaller than it looks. For raw berry speed, I've had the cleanest loops at Dam Battlegrounds. Do a circuit around the Hydroponic Dome and the Scrapyard, keep moving, and you'll usually walk out with 30–40 per run if you're not getting stuck in pointless fights.
Stage Items That Waste Your Time
The berries aren't what slows most squads down. It's the weird "why can't I find this anywhere?" junk. Stage 2 asks for Industrial Batteries, and random lockers will troll you for hours. Go straight to the Spaceport east trench where the spawns are consistent. Later, Stage 5 wants Mushrooms, and people keep searching buildings like it's a pantry raid. Wrong spot. Check felled trees and rotting logs near riverbanks, especially around Bastion. It's tedious, sure, but it's how you get those last turn-ins without losing your mind.
Rewards, Time, And The Easy Exit
If you're on the fence, the rewards do hit: the Space Wrench at Tier 25 is nasty, and the Hi-Tech Hiker set looks solid without being try-hard. But December schedules are chaos, and not everyone wants to spend evenings staring at bushes and battery spawns. If you'd rather lock in the event goodies and get back to actual raids, some players just grab ARC Raiders Items cheap
and call it a day, then run the rest of the track at their own pace.
