| MMOexp EA FC26 Comparing POTM Anguissa to His Evo Upgrade Path |
 |
Player of the Month season is officially underway in EA FC 26, and one of the first big SBCs to drop is none other than Frank Zambo Anguissa. If you've been around Ultimate Team for a while, you probably remember his breakout last year-whether it was a boosted Team of the Week, a special Evo, or just the sheer popularity of his card, Anguissa became a staple midfielder on countless squads. Physical, dominant, surprisingly technical… and now he's back FC㺚 Coins
.
His 86-rated POTM item arrives with Hullet Gang-level base stats, a strong chemistry link to Lukaku, and the versatility to play CDM, CM, and CAM. But with no PlayStyle+, a mixed bag of traits, and an 80k+ SBC cost, the real question is simple:
Is this Anguissa worth unlocking in EA FC 26?
Let's break it all down.
Card Overview: Hullet Gang Stats Without the Shine
At first glance, Anguissa's POTM card looks like the perfect early-season midfield anchor:
3 Skill Moves
3 Weak Foot
CDM / CM / CAM positions
Shadow chem style recommended
86 overall rating
Strong physical presence at 6'0"
While the skill moves and weak foot aren't spectacular, most defensive mids in the early game survive just fine with 3/3-especially if they're meant to shield your back line rather than pull off elastico spam.
What does sting is the lack of a PlayStyle+. Cards of this caliber benefit massively from a single elite PlayStyle-Interceptor+, Press Proven+, or even something niche like Quick Step+ would take him to another level. Unfortunately, Anguissa arrives barebones in that department.
PlayStyles Included
He comes equipped with:
Intercept
Aerial Fortress
Press Proven
Relentless
That's not a bad foundation, and Intercept alone is a huge asset for a DM in this year's meta. But the absence of a PlayStyle+ is very noticeable, especially when comparing him to similarly priced midfielders or evolved cards.
Stats Breakdown: What He Does Best
Let's dig into the numbers, because Zambo's biggest strength is how incredibly well-rounded he is.
Pace - Better Than Expected
He's quick enough to track runners, step in front of passes, and break away when driving forward. His sprinting animation is long and powerful, meaning he covers ground well.
Passing - Good Enough, But Not Elite
His passing story is mixed:
Vision, short passing, long passing - Solid
Crossing, curve, FK accuracy - Poor
For a holding midfielder, that's perfectly fine. But for a box-to-box player or CAM, you'd miss the lack of elite passing PlayStyles like Pinged Pass or Whipped Pass.
Dribbling - Surprisingly Smooth
This is one of the most surprising parts of his card. For a bigger, physical midfielder, Anguissa's:
Left-stick control
First touch
Control sprint animations
…are all much better than you'd expect.
In gameplay, he repeatedly showed the ability to glide into space, wiggle past pressure, and hold the ball up under heavy challenges.
Defending - Elite Positioning & Jockeying
His defensive attributes are extremely well-rounded:
83 Defending
Strong interceptions
Clean, controlled tackles
Excellent shielding
Fantastic lane coverage
Combined with his physical strength and height, Anguissa becomes a ball-recovery specialist. He's simply annoying to play against.
Physicals - His Best Attribute
He's an absolute unit:
89 Physical
Great strength
Great presence
Excellent shielding
Strong in duels
Legit aerial threat on set pieces
This is where he feels like last year's crowd-favorite version of Anguissa: a dominating force with that signature "steamroller" feel in midfield.
In-Game Performance: Footwork, Tackles, and Surprising Finishing
Ball Control & Press Resistance
One of the biggest surprises when testing him was how comfortable he feels under pressure. His touches are sharp, his turning radius isn't clunky, and he can escape tight spaces when needed.
Press resistance in EA FC 26 is highly valuable, and Anguissa passes that Test.
Tackling and Interceptions
This is where he shines:
Reads passing lanes
Steps in effortlessly
Wins shoulder-to-shoulder battles
Uses Intercept PlayStyle well
He feels like that classic "vacuum cleaner" DM-anything near him gets cleaned up.
Shooting & Attacking Involvement
Shockingly? Not bad.
Across multiple matches, Anguissa displayed:
Strong strides forward
Good shooting animations
Clean finishes inside the box
Late runs that are tough to track
He even scored several composed shots into the bottom corners after bursting through midfield.
Aerial Threat
With:
Aerial Fortress PlayStyle
Great jumping
Large frame
…he's genuinely threatening on corners and flick-ons. He nearly scored one precision header that would've been a proper highlight.Strengths & Weaknesses at a Glance
Strengths
Fantastic physicality
Strong defending & jockeying
Very good on the ball for his size
Surprising attacking output
Good links (Napoli, Lukaku, Serie A)
Position versatility
Excellent value in a Serie A squad
Weaknesses
No PlayStyle+ really limits his ceiling
3/3 is just okay
Crossing and curve are poor
Not the smoothest passer
Hard to justify if you don't run Serie A
Many midfield Evos surpass him
SBC requires 4 squads including TOTW
SBC Cost & Value: Is He Worth 84k?
At the time of writing, the SBC comes in at approximately:
84,000 coins
Requirements include:
85-rated team (most expensive)
Multiple squads
Several Team of the Weeks
For a card with no PlayStyle+ and decent but not elite stats, this cost feels… fine. Not amazing, not overpriced-just fine.
If you run a Serie A or Napoli squad:
He's an excellent addition and easily worth the SBC.
If he doesn't fit your squad:
He's not strong enough to justify restructuring your team.
With EA adding more Evos every few weeks, plenty of midfielders can surpass him for less investment.
Comparing POTM Anguissa to His Evo Options
If you're a hardcore Zambo fan, you'll be happy to know:
There is an Evo path that boosts his Team of the Week card
That Evo can improve him in ways the POTM does not
The final Evo'd card can rival or even surpass this SBC version
For some players, upgrading the TOTW may actually be the smarter long-term option.
Final Verdict: A Very Good Midfielder… But Not a Must-Do SBC
Zambo Anguissa's POTM card is:
Strong
Reliable
Surprisingly smooth
Great defensively
Fantastic for Serie A squads
Enjoyable in-game
But: Fut㺚 Coins
He lacks PlayStyle+
He doesn't stand out among the best DMs
His SBC cost is fair-but not a bargain
Other evolutions offer better value
He won't change your team unless you already run Serie A
Final Rating: 7.5 / 10
A very good midfielder who does his job well-but doesn't do enough to justify breaking your squad to fit him in.
